TRIPLE RING-MESH NETWORK WITH NATIONAL COVERAGE COMPLETED.

This is the milestone that established Viking’s technological and organisational perfection. The creation of a triple ring mesh network with national coverage takes advantage of a further ring on carrier-grade radio link. This network is the only one of its kind in Italy. This means that should the fibre optic backbone network suffer a failure, Viking would nevertheless be able to ensure service continuity owing to diversification of the route and means of transmission.

VIKING ORGANISES PROACTIVE MONITORING 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK.

The expansion of the market leads Viking to structure itself to provide its clients with a proactive 24/7 monitoring service, with the capacity to prevent any deterioration in connectivity. Each client can contact the internal engineering staff directly, eliminating the use of third parties and external call centres, with a quality of service above the standards of other telecommunications providers.

VIKING TAKES ITS NETWORK OVERSEAS.

The first circuit is created in Sardinia, confirming that radio microwave technology can reach client offices wherever they are. The first agreement is signed with an international telecommunications provider, using Viking circuits to reach the clients for whom it is not possible to provide a dedicated fibre optic connection or protected circuit, without compressing the last-mile stretch.

GOING BEYOND LOCAL COVERAGE.

With the activation of a new Layer 2 circuit in Ancona, Viking takes on the role of connectivity service provider, even for companies with branches outside of Tuscany. At that time, traditional data transmission was not yet able to adequately satisfy the needs of many companies with branches, in terms of capacity to reach them nor in terms of service continuity and stability.

VIKING DEVELOPS AND EXTENDS ITS SPHERE OF ACTION.

Viking extends its horizons, concentrating its efforts on creating a regional proprietary network, with the capacity to provide links for data transfer through dedicated point-to-point radio links. This year, in Tuscany, the first Layer 2 circuit is created with radio microwave technology to connect two remote offices of a client.

VIKING IS FOUNDED AS A SERVICE PROVIDER FOR RADIO SIGNALS OF LOCAL BROADCASTERS.

The company sets out on its journey with the construction of two towers for the repetition of radio signals from Tuscan radio and television broadcasters. An initial radio link prototype is developed with microwave technology to monitor the transmission devices positioned on the towers.
